This is no ordinary 5.56x45 ammunition. Have a look at a round and you will notice its tip has been painted green – that is to indicate that it is an M855. Beneath the bullet’s full metal jacket sits a solid steel tip, which is there to strengthen the bullet so it may more reliably penetrate light barriers including sheet metal. Once the “penetrator” bullet finds itself inside of something dark and wet it continues to penetrate deeply whilst also tumbling around and/or fragmenting. For that reason we would reason Aguila’s M855 ammo would also serve well during a self-defense altercation.
Even though this round’s bullet weighs 62 grains, it still boasts a similar muzzle velocity to a 55 grain bullet at 3,260 fps. That will give you a nice and flat trajectory, key to lining up long-range shots with finesse. This round’s bullet is needless to say magnetic, although its solid brass case is the same stuff which handloaders are always on the lookout for.
